We are in the process of tiling our living room, dining room and kitchen. The bad part is ripping up the old carpet. It seems to have given the pets fleas or something. I can't actually see fleas on them, but they are miserable, so I've bathed them in the shampoo and had the bug man come spray the house. Keep your fingers crossed this works.
Next we had to remove the old "glue" that the asbestos tile was held down with. What a process. It took some noxious chemical and sand and a lot of scraping to get it up, but it is done.
We hope to tile the living room the second week in October.
Tony, Suzie and the kids are headed to Disney land for the kids' fall break. What fun for them.
I'll be having surgery. I have to have a bunch of "female" stuff done that doesn't thrill me at all. Bleck.
Then I'm concentrating on my room. I have too many clothes to fit in the space I have. So I'm weeding them out and donating them to a Women's Shelter. It will be a good thing.
On a sad note: After 20 years I had to put down two of my cats as they were very sick. I'll miss Mowgli and Butterscotch. Great cats. Spoiled, but great.

Life Ponderings

I find it so strange that I only think about my own mortality when someone I love passes away.

On the 1st my good friend, Diane, died after spending over a year in and out of the hospital. She had always suffered from many health complications, but she had undergone gastric bypass surgery two years ago and this further complicated her health and caused it to just completely deteriorate. I shall miss her terribly. I met her because I watched her children. Her daughter was a little over a year old and her son was just 6 weeks old when I began... they are both in their twenties now. The daughter has a son that is 18 months old and another baby on the way. The son is seriously dating a beautiful girl.
Diane's mother is still living. She is,of course, taking the loss of her daughter very hard. I just pray so very hard for this family. What gives me comfort is knowing that they know that Diane is now Standing in the Son!! She had such a belief! The entire family does. I am so grateful that Jesus works so strongly at times like these. He can deliver the grace that we need to move through grief. It gives us the quiet knowledge to know that Diane is His child and is now whole and free of the pain she suffered. She is where we all want to be eventually!

Diane's passing just made me think about how long I have left on earth. What can I do to make it more meaningful? How can I better serve? How can I improve my own health? I felt very, very mortal because my friend was only two years older than me.

God, grant me serenity.
